BioMaterials (Triticum aestivum/ common wheat)
Changing the materials of Single-Use Products.
Spain has finally banned tableware made of single used plastic. But are the ones used now - made of ticker, more sturdy plastic or the paper ones that hold only a thin plastic coat to stop liquids any more sustainable than their predecessors? We noticed that a majority of people (wrongly) uses these two former mentioned products as if they were 'single-use' tableware, hence actually doubling if not tripling the waste.
Inspired by a party trend that uses the BUCATINI pasta shape as straws, we developed an entire edible table set for the company Barilla, made from one single material: pasta dough.
The ingredient are not only all natural, ecological and in requirement of relatively low energy production levels, but can moreover themselves be cooked and consumed (or at least fully composted) following their usage.
